Brown Rice Bowl With a Fried Egg


One must think on their feet when all you have in the kitchen is eggs, brown rice and some wilted herbs! This is what I made myself for dinner when I arrived from a night flight starving. 


  • 1 cup brown rice 
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce 
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • green parsley or cilantro 
  • 1 egg
  • 1 clove chopped garlic



Measure one cup of brown rice, rinse it well under cold water several times, you can also soak it for thirty minutes, turn your stove onto medium heat, take a small pot, add brown rice and one and a half cups water, let it boil first, cover, and turn your heat down and simmer for thirty minutes or until the rice is cooked, it should be nice and fluffy. In a separate frying pan add some cooking oil and fry your chopped garlic till lightly golden. Remove garlic and in the same pan add a little more oil and fry your egg. Take a bowl add some chopped cilantro or parsley first, then add the  brown rice ,soy sauce, vinegar and garlic, mix together well. Finally, add your fried egg on top!
